Every year during NCBA’s Annual Cattle Industry Convention and Trade Show, the beef industry’s youngest members participate in several competitions, including the Youth Beef Quiz Bowl, Public Speaking Contest, Cattle Judging Contest, and the National Collegiate Beef Quiz Bowl. These youth programs are an invaluable asset to our industry and allow youth, the future of our organization to gain experience and leadership skills through competition.

YPC has been asked if any members would be able to volunteer to work with the Youth Activities Task Force committee on each of these four contests during the scheduled 2012 convention to be held February 1-4, 2012 in Nashville, TN. All contests will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2012 with the exception of the Cattle Judging Contest which is to be held on Friday, February, 3, 2012. The 2012 contests are still in the planning stages and much help will be needed to pull these events off successfully. Requirements of volunteers would first and foremost be attendance of the 2012 convention. Other responsibilities would include a few conference calls, possibly a meeting at the summer conference, and helping with the contest at convention. In past years volunteers have served as contest superintendents, judges, and assisted with general event coordination.
This is a great opportunity to get involved with both YPC and NCBA and have an impact directly on the future of our industry. If you are interested in volunteering to help with the Youth Activities Task Force please contact the Chairman, Ben Neale (firstname.lastname@example.org), or Public Relations chair, Jesse R. Bussard (email@example.com). We’d appreciate all the help we can get!
